Toronto Arrows Enjoy First Home Win Over Houston SaberCats

The Toronto Arrows defeated the Houston SaberCats 35-21 for their first home Major League Rugby win in its history. The match was played at York Alumni Stadium on April 21.

The Arrows leveled their record to 5-5 and are in sixth place, while the SaberCats fell to 2-8 and are in seventh place.

Toronto will host the Seattle Seawolves on April 28, while the Houston SaberCats host the San Diego Legion that same day.

Match Recap

The Toronto Arrows jumped out to a 21-0 lead on tries by Kolby Francis, Teo Sauder, and Andrew Quattrin, with Sam Malcolm slotting three conversions.

The SaberCats scored two tries by Zach Pangelinan and by Pat O’Toole to cut the lead to 21-14 at the break after Sam Windsor’s conversions.

The SaberCats showed why their scrum is one of the best in the league with a penalty try to level the match at 21 all.

Momentum was on the SaberCats side, but a handling error gave the arrows possession and resulted in a Mike Sheppard try. The Arrows added another by Kainoa Llyod with Guiseppe Du Toit slotting the final two conversions to win 35-21.
