Sean is from Woburn, Massachusetts and attended Arlington Catholic High School, graduating in 2014. He began playing rugby in 2016 and was on the Massachusetts Select side.

He then attended Northeastern University from 2014-2019 and was a hooker and then a back row. The team played in the D1A Rugby Liberty Rugby Conference. He played rugby sevens for the Northeast Rugby Academy in 2016 at the New York Sevens, with the Mystic River Rugby Collegiate Select XV tour to Montreal, and played with Northeastern in the Las Vegas Invitational.
