2019 Cara Cup: Munster A vs Leinster A

The fifth match will have Irish Provincial A sides, Munster and Leinster meeting on Wednesday 10th April, 7.00pm (1 am Irish time) at Union Point Sports Complex, Weymouth MA.

In the first match, the Connacht Eagles defeated the New England Free Jacks 38-7. The second had the Connacht Eagles beating the Ulster Ravens 44-21. In the third match, the New England Free Jacks lost to Ulster A 43-15.

The 4th match featured the New England Free Jacks vs Munster A on Saturday, April 6 at the Irish Cultural Centre GAA Field in Canton, MA. The Free Jacks played a competitive match losing 38-19 to Munster A.

The sixth will have the Free Jacks facing Leinster A on Sunday 14th April, 5.00pmat Harvard Mignone Field, Boston MA.

Munster

Munster A has 7 changes to the starters from the match against the Free jacks and 3 positional changes. In the forwards.

Forwards changes include Shannon prop Luke Masters switching from tighthead to loosehead, Keynan Knox and Cian Reale from Old Crescent at lock, Sean O’Connor switching from lock to flanker, Ross O’Neil from Cork Constitution at flanker and Jack Daly at No. 8.

In the backs, Jack Stafford is at scrumhalf, James McCarthy at wing, Alan Tynan switching from fullback to outside center and Luke Kinston from Highfield at fullback.

There are 9 Academy players in the starting XV with Jack Stafford captain along with James McCarthy, Alan Tynan, Seán French, Ben Healy, Eoghan Clarke, Keynan Knox, Seán O’Connor, and Jack Daly.

Paddy Kelly a lock and Conor Phillips a wing, play for Young Munster.

Leinster

The Leinster Rugby ‘A’ team traveled to Boston on Sunday for their two Cara Cup games against Munster Rugby ‘A’ and the New England Free Jacks.

The ‘A’ team open against Munster on Wednesday, 10 April, at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Massachusetts (KO 7 pm local). Then they play the New England Free Jacks on Sunday, 14 April, at Harvard Mignone Field (KO 5 pm local).

Several players have had experience playing with the senior PRO14 team. These include Vakh Abdaladze a prop, along with Academy players  Jimmy O’Brien, Ronan Kelleher, Jack Kelly, and Gavin Mullin.

Ryan Baird, Giuseppe Coyne, and Aaron O’Sullivan played for the Ireland Under-20s. Ireland Sevens international Jimmy O’Brien is a player to watch at outside center. South African-born Academy prop Keynan Knox is highly regarded by Munster.
