Match Comments

Seattle Seawolves Head Coach Richie Walker has made four changes in his starters from the last match two weeks ago. Olive Kilifi and Stephan Coetzee return in the front row at loosehead prop and hooker, respectively. Cam Polson is at lock and Shalom Suniula will captain the team at inside center.

In the reserves, Mat Turner returns to the matchday roster, while Joey Iosefa could make his 2019 MLR debut at center. Iosefa previously played in the exhibition season for the Seawolves and for the Seattle Saracens against the Seawolves. In 2018 the former NFL fullback played for the Houston SaberCats.

San Diego Legion Head Coach Rob Hoadley has made three changes in his starters with Lou Stanfill returning at lock, Jasa Veremalua making the transition to flanker, and Ryan Matyas returning at wing. In the reserves, Nathan Sylvia returns to the matchday roster.

The Seattle Seawolves came back to beat the San Diego Legion 17-13 in week two. Both teams’ defenses excelled and the set pieces were even. This week’s match will require the teams to maintain possession and minimize infractions and handling errors. Both Pietersen and Staller are among the best kickers in the league. The match will still likely come down to kicking for territory and attacking from lineouts deep in the opposition territory for tries.
