Chris Slater has played in 2018-2019 exhibition season matches for the New England Free jacks against Rugby United New York and against the Utah Warriors.
The 28-year-old scrumhalf is 5’9″ and 175 lbs. He is from Houston, Texas and played rugby at Cypress Ridge High School and with Lone Star Rugby Club. He then went to Sam Houston State University from 2010-2014, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Marketing. He continued playing football as a cornerback and also played club rugby while there.
Chris then played rugby with James Bay Athletic Association in the BC Rugby Premier League at wing. He played with the Dallas Reds and also in New Zealand with Burley Rugby Union Football Club. In 2017 he signed with the Houston Strikers, which changed names to the SaberCats, playing both scrumhalf and wing.
Chris then joined the New England Free Jacks in 2018 for the exhibition season and hopes to contribute in 2019.
