The Utah Warriors had hoped that Maika Hafoka would be an important member of the team for 2019. The 26-year-old No. 8, is 6’2″ and 250 lbs. Unfortunately, Maika was injured against Life West in a scrimmage and will miss the 2019 Major League Rugby season. Maika played for the team in 2018.
Maika was born and raised in Tonga and is the oldest of six children. He played rugby at Liahona High School in Nukalofa, Tongatapu, Tonga, and then came to Utah and played at Highland. He is an avid lover of sports and has played rugby, volleyball, ping-pong, tennis, cricket, and basketball.
Maika played representative rugby for Tonga at the South Pacific Games in 2007. In 2011 Maika played Rugby at the University of Utah, then went on an LDS mission in New Jersey. He also played club rugby with the Salt Lake City Spartans.
“Maika is currently working as a professional Barber while finishing off his studies at UVU. Maika is married to wife Moana and they have a daughter Linita.”
