Rugby United New York signs Kirkland Hamilton for the 2019Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old tighthead prop is 6’1″ and 250 lbs.
Kirkland attended Burlington County Regional High School and was known for playing football. Upon graduation, he attended Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Philosophy. He was introduced to rugby at Rutgers and excelled in the front row and was a difficult runner to tackle as he often ran a crash into the opposition.
After graduation, he joined the New York Athletic Club and was part of their 2015 National Championship run. He also played on the USA Islanders, a team consisting of the top US Polynesian rugby talent, in Bermuda against the Saracens.
In 2018 Rugby United New York enjoyed an undefeated exhibition season and in the Fall won their two preseason matches. Kirk was part of the squad and in 2019 will be a valuable player in the front row.
