Austin Elite Rugby Signs Brendan Rams

Austin Elite Rugby signed Brendan Rams for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old hooker/prop is 6’1″ and 282 lbs.

Brendan is from South Africa and attended St. Albans School and St. Albans College in Pretoria. He played age-grade rugby with the Blue Bulls Rugby Union from the Under-16s through the Senior level. He also played with the University of Pretoria (Tuks), Pumas Under-21s senior level, and Valke senior level.

In 2014 he moved to Austin, Texas and played for the Austin Blacks and Austin Huns. He also was signed to the Denver Stampede in 2016, but a preseason knee injury caused him to miss the season. Following the 2017 year with the Huns, he returned to South Africa.

Brendan discussed his decision to return to Austin saying that “the decision came full circle in an organic way. The Most important part about this ‘signing’ is the relationship and Hardships I built over the years with the Austin supporters and teammates. A large number of people from both teams aren’t even considered friends. We are a strong family, so I’m just here to pay it forward by bringing the pure love of the game, passion, and high energy back to Austin, Texas because it took me in as a kid. ‘Ram for the Fans!”
