Northeast Academy Names Annemarie Farrell Team Manager

Northeast Academy Release

We are excited to announce Annemarie will be joining the Wolfpack as one of the Academy’s team managers. Her first appointment will be with the Women’s Alpha Pack out in Las Vegas for the 2019 LVI!

Annemarie began her position as head coach of Ithaca College Men’s Rugby team in 2009, 6 months prior to the program’s formal reinstatement. A year later she led the team to a National Final Four appearance, and the team has continued its success under her leadership. As one of only a few female head coaches in the collegiate men’s ranks, she has overseen program development from just a dozen participants to over 60 student-athletes, the establishment of the IC Rugby Endowment, and program expansion into rugby 7s. Previously Farrell served as Head Coach of Cornell Women’s Rugby, Denison Women’s Rugby and as a scrum coach for Ohio State Women’s Rugby. In 2008, she founded the Ithaca Avengers Women’s Rugby team, a team she continues to oversee.

At the national level, she is one of the longest-serving managers in the USA Rugby pathway program, beginning her work under Head Coach Kathy Flores in 2007. A level III certified coach, level I referee, and World Rugby Educator, Annemarie is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on coaching, donor motives, marketing, and program management. Northeast Academy Executive Director Ryszard Chadwick had this to say about the new team manager,
“Bringing Annemarie on board with us is a huge positive, what she will offer the Academy in her role as a team manager is top level organization & management skills combined with a whole level of energy, charisma & humor. It is this kind of person that we welcome into the Academy to help develop the players within the Northeast.”
Professionally, Dr. Farrell is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Sports Management at Ithaca College. Her research focuses on women’s sports marketing and consumer behavior, notably spectator motivations of women’s sport. Dr. Farrell works with numerous international and domestic sports leagues and governing bodies. She received her Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Management from The Ohio State University.
