Austin Elite Rugby signed Mickaël Romera for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. He initially signed with the team in June 2018 in time for the Round 9 match against the San Diego Legion.
The 21-year-old scrumhalf turns 22 on February 1. He is 5’7″ and 165 lbs and started in the first preseason against the Houston SaberCats on January 11, 2019.
Mickaël is from Montpellier, France and began playing rugby at age 5. He attended Lycée Moulin Beziers and Lycée Jean Moulin.
Mickaël spent most of his rugby career playing for Montpellier. In 2016 he played for France Under-19s against Ireland U19s. In 2017 he played for France Universities in their 30-27 win over England, for BTS Montpellier, and for Montpellier Herault Rugby. For the 2017-2018 Top14 season he played for US Oyonnax and played in the Challenge Cup match against Connacht.
Mickaël is a sparkplug at scrumhalf and also was used as a kicker in the first Austin Elite Rugby 2019 preseason match.
