Utah Warriors Sign Ian Luciano

The Utah Warriors signed Australian scrum-half Ian Luciano for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. He is 23-year-old, 5’9″, and 180 lbs.

Ian is from Sydney, Australia and attended Northern Beaches Christian School. He played rugby league with the Belrose Eagles and union with the Mighty Warringah Rats.

Ian attended New England College from 2013-2016, earning two Bachelor’s Degrees in Criminal Justice and in Business Administration. He also was a key contributor to the rugby team.

While at NEC, the team won the NSCRO National XVs and 7s Championships and then changed the following year to Collegiate Division 1 rugby. In 2015 and in 2016, He was selected to the USA Rugby Collegiate All-American Honorable Mention Team. He also played with the All-Americans at the 2016 Rugbytown 7s.

He also played with the Northeast Academy Sevens team that won the New York 7s in 2016 and that participated in the Las Vegas Invitational in 2017.

Following his graduation from NEC, he played with Mystic River Rugby Club. He played in USA Club Rugby 7s National Championships in 2016 through 2018 and in 2018 won the USA Rugby Club National Division 1 XVs Championship.

In 2018, Ian also played professionally with the Boston Mystics during their 4 match exhibition season and again in the Fall for the New England Freejacks against the Ontario Arrows and Rugby United New York.

During the 2019 MLR season, Ian will play with the Utah Warriors. He is a talented player and his rugby 7s skills will blend in with the attacking style of rugby that the Warriors play.
