NOLA Gold & Mason Briant

NOLA Gold has had New Orleans native Mason Briant play in 2019 preseason matches with the club. He is from Marrero, Louisiana and played rugby in Wellington, New Zealand and for Johnsonville Rugby Club Hawks in the New Zealand Premier League from 2016-2018. The 27-year-old loosehead prop/hooker is 5’9″ and 232 lbs.

Mason attended Archbishop Shaw High School and played rugby with the Eagles. He also studied at Loyola University New Orleans and at Max International College for Fitness Professionals.

Mason has been a member of New Orleans RFC since 2010. In 2018 he played in NOLA Gold preseason matches against USA Rugby South, Stars Rugby, and is on the roster for the January 12th match against the Dallas Reds. While a team announcement has not been made, Mason appears to have made an impact for NOLA Gold and he will likely see playing time in the 2019 Major League Rugby regular season.
