San Diego Legion Re-Signs Nick Evans

San Diego Legion signed Nick Evans at wing for a second Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old Honolulu, Hawaii native is 5’10” and 200 lbs.

Nick grew up in a navy family and moved throughout his childhood. He attended Brighton High School in Tennessee and played rugby beginning at age 15.

After graduating in 2008, he went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Materials, & Supply Chain Management. He entered Tennessee on a Volunteer Rugby Scholarship and played for the Volunteers, captaining the side for the 2011-2012 season. In 2012 he was named to the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans and toured with the team in Ireland.

In 2013, Nick moved to South Africa and played a season with the Stellenbosch Maties before returning to the U.S.

Nick then joined the Seattle Saracens in 2014 and became the Regional Account Manager – Southeast for Atavus Rugby. He then moved to Chula Vista, California in 2016, as his partner, USA Women’s Eagles 7s and 15s player Kelsi Stockert gained residency there. Nick played for OMBAC since then in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and in the California Cup in 2017, as the team won the Championship.

Nick has also been a youth coach in the Chula Vista area.

Nick is an excellent defender and his quick feet helped in evading tacklers when he had ball in hand. Nick returns to the Legion in 2019 and continue to contribute as a youth coach as well.
