San Diego Legion Signs New Zealand Lock Liam Hallam-Eames

San Diego Legion signed New Zealand lock Liam Hallam-Eames for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old is from Palmerston North, New Zealand, is 6’6″, and 243 lbs.

Liam played rugby with the Horowhenua Kaiti Under-13s, attended and played rugby at Paraparamu College, before transferring to Palmerston North Boys’ High School in 2013 where he continued with the sport.

In 2014 he moved to Wellington where he was part of the Wellington Rugby Football Union Academy’s Under-19s wider training group. He also played for Oriental-Rongotai in the Swindale Shield, while attending Victoria University.

Liam then joined the Manawatu Turbos in the Mitre 10 Cup in 2016 and played with them through 2018. This past April, he was among a number of Manawatu players to play for the Hurricanes Development XV against the Chiefs Development XV prior to the Hurricanes vs. Chiefs match. He also played for Old Boys Marist.

Liam will join the San Diego Legion for 2019. The forwards have an international presence and will bestronger in the set pieces this season.
