San Diego Legions Adds Australian Prop Paddy Ryan

The San Diego Legion added former Wallabies and Waratahs prop Paddy Ryan for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. Paddy is 30 years-old, 6’2″, and 265 lbs.

Paddy is from Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia. He attended St. Joseph’s College and Sydney University.

He played for the Australian Schoolboys in 2006 and then spent a year in Ireland before returning to Australia and joining the Junior Waratahs development system. He also played in the Sydney Rugby Union NSW Premiership Colts competition before going to Sydney University.

He played with the Waratahs from 2011-2018 making his debut against the Chiefs and appearing in 116 matches. He also played with the Sydney Stars in 2014, making 9 appearances and scoring 2 tries.

Paddy also earned 3 caps for Australia from 2012-2014 and is Wallaby #866. he debuted against France on November 10, 2012 and then played against Ireland the following year. In 2014 he also played against France in Brisbane.

Paddy joins the San Diego Legion after playing in 2018 for the Sanix Blue in the Top League in Japan. His experience in playing prop in Super Rugby will be an asset in the set pieces and his leadership will be invaluable.
