Toronto Arrows & Aaron McLelland
The Toronto Arrows signed fullback Aaron McLelland for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. Aaron will be 24 in the next few days, is 5’11”, and 180 pounds.
Aaron is from Gisborne, New Zealand and lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. He attended Mount Albert Grammer School in Auckland, New Zealand from 2009-2012. He then attended Lincoln University from 2013-2014 and received a diploma in Applied Sciences. Next, it was on to Massey University from 2016-2018, where he is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport and Exercise.
In addition to playing rugby in New Zealand, Aaron has played for the UBCOB Ravens, Doha Rugby Football Club in Qatar, and the Ontario Arrows during their 2018 exhibition season.
Aaron also has an extensive coaching resume. He coached the Junior teams for Doha RFC from 2014-2016, working particularly with the Under-19s Colts. He was the Rugby Development Officer there during 2014-2015.
During the Fall 2016 season, he coached the UBCOB Ravens Under-18s Boys. In 2018 he became Director of Youth Rugby for the Ravens. For the British Columbia Rugby Union, he has been the High-Performance Academy Coach since 2017 and the Under-18s Back Coach in 2018.
Aaron is an attacking player and a sparkplug at halfback. He will be a welcome addition for the Arrows in 2019.
