Toronto Arrows & Steven Ng
The Toronto Arrows have signed hooker Steven Ng for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 21-year-old is 5’11” and weighs 235 pounds. He is from Ottawa, Ontario and attended Merivale High School.
Steven Ng has played rugby for numerous clubs. In 2012 he played until 2016 with the Barrhaven Scottish Rugby FC and also with Eastern Ontario Rugby FC from 2012-14. In 2015 he played with the Voyagers RFC in Quebec before moving to New Zealand and playing rugby with the Waimea Old Boys RFC in Nelson, New Zealand and with the Tasman Makos Under-19s in 2016.
In 2016 he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and played with Capilano from 2016-2018 and played this past Fall with James Bay Athletic Association.
Rugby Canada has centralized the National Team in Langford, British Columbia and he has been part of the system since 2016 and part of the Centralized Players’ Pool in 2018. He played for the Canada Under-18s in 2016 and for the Under-20s in the World Rugby Trophy competition in Uruguay.
Canada National team head coach Kingsley Jones selected him to play for Canada Selects in May 2018 against the Ontario Arrows to help to grow depth of rugby players in Canada and allow both coaches to experiment with different options in a trial-style atmosphere.
He was selected for the BC Bears in the 2018 Canadian Rugby Championship. In September 2018 he played for the Ontario Arrows in their win against the Glendale Raptors.
