Seattle Seawolves & Dion Crowder

The Seattle Seawolves have re-signed Dion Crowder for the 2019 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old wing is 5’7″ and 190 pounds.

Crowder grew up in Chicago Heights, Illinois and graduated Thornton Factional South High School in 2011. He was a wrestler throughout his high school athletic career and competed at Purdue for 2 years. His Junior year, he began to play rugby and has had him hooked ever since.

Crowder attended Purdue University from 2011 to 2016, when he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, Leadership, and innovation. Following his graduation, he moved to Seattle and honed his skills through the Atavus Academy and played with the Seattle Saracens.

In 2017, he competed with the Washington Athletic Club at the Club 7s National Championship and in August played with the Savu Water Barbarians (Team Fiji) at the 2017 Rugbytown 7s tournament in Glendale, Colorado, scoring two tries in the tournament final against the Ramblin Jesters.

Crowder’s contributions during the 2018 MLR season assisted the team in winning the Championship. Following the end of the season, he returned to play with the Seattle Seawolves for the 2018 CDI season.

The Seawolves looks forward to his return in 2019  saying that his “explosive style of play that keeps the opposition on their toes. Crowder‘s change of pace allows him to capitalize on gaps while on offense and close them on defense with technical tracking.”
