Danny Carlton and Matt Frings Join QUIN Nation
Dallas Harlequins Release
We are excited to announce that Danny Carlton will be joining the club as Attack Coach and Performance Analyst, along with Matt Frings as Strength & Conditioning Coach for the upcoming season.
Prior to joining the Quins, Danny played for English National League side Fylde RFC along with stints at Italian National League sides and Manchester RFC. As well as being an experienced coach, Danny has also spent time studying performance analysis at the post-graduate level.
“This a great challenge & I’m delighted to be here. I have a few different responsibilities but they all center on positioning myself, my teammates & the team to be better. It is a really big challenge, personally, I’m really excited to have this opportunity & the position to develop within it. Director of Rugby Elaine is very big on player development, particularly decision-making and technical skills. This feeding into our identity in the attack; where we want to challenge ourselves to continually separate ourselves from anything else currently seen here – Really expressive, dynamic, nothing off limits rugby.”
Since completing his bachelors in Strength and Conditioning in the United Kingdom Matt has worked with Professional Rugby League side Wigan Warriors, before setting up a personal training business focusing on sports performance. He joins us this year from National League 2 side Preston Grasshoppers where he was competing and providing S&C support before moving to the US to marry his wife Becca in July.
“I am very excited to be involved here in Dallas. Elaine and Danny are working hard to create a progressive environment and the players need to be in good shape to execute the style of rugby they are trying to create so I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Matt will be working remotely from his home in New Mexico for the time being, running face to face sessions at key points through the season- with a view to moving to Dallas permanently in the near future. Director of Rugby Elaine Vassie said “Danny and Matt both have a passion for creative, attack-focused rugby. Their drive to continually challenge themselves as coaches, as well as their on-field impact, is a real asset and I’m delighted to have them on board.”
