Austin Elite Rugby 2019 Roster
Austin Elite Rugby announced the signing of Simon Courcoul, a loosehead prop from Laval, France. Courcoul continues the French connection led by Head Coach Alain Hyardet, flyhalf Timothée Guillimin, scrumhalf Mickaël Romera, and lock Victor Comptat.
Courcoul is 22, is 6’0″ and weighs 258 pounds. He joins Austin Elite Rugby after spending the 2017-18 Fédérale 1 season with Grasse. There he was a regular starter and gained valuable professional experience.
Courcoul began playing rugby at age 14 at RC Laval and then played with Nantes. He then began playing professional rugby with the ASM Clermont Academy where he was selected to both the Under-19 and Under-20 National team. He also represented France at the Junior World Cup in New Zealand.
After his stint with the Academy, he played PRO D2 in France with Aviron Bayonnais and then with Narbonne then sought to gain increased playing time through playing Fédérale 1 with Grasse.

Alain Hyardet, Head Coach indicated that “Bringing young international players that can share their experience and grow with Major League Rugby is very important for us. We are building a long-term strategic plan and Simon is the perfect fit.”
The 22-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the front row, while also having abilities to play loose and tight head.
Simon Courcoul added that “Coming to the USA and being part of Major League Rugby is an amazing opportunity and I look forward to playing for Austin Elite Rugby.”
