James Willocks Becomes Men’s Collegiate Rugby Head Coach

USA Rugby & James Willocks

USA Rugby (Release) has confirmed that Dartmouth Rugby’s James Willocks will serve as Head Coach of the Men’s Collegiate All-Americans; while former Eagle and current St. Bonaventure University’s Head Coach Tui Osborne and Life University’s Blake Bradford have been named Assistant Coaches. Given the Men’s Collegiate All-American Selection Camp is quickly approaching, the trio will immediately continue preparations to work with 100 of the nation’s top men’s student-athletes. The selection camp will run from August 9-17 at Infinity Park, home of the Glendale Raptors of Major League Rugby.

“It is a tremendous honor to contribute to the storied legacy that has developed countless national team players and coaches,” says new Head Coach Willocks. “The work was done by our staff to identify 100+ of our country’s top collegiate players and provide them exposure to our national team best practices and coaching is a good step in the continuing development of our age-grade program and future Eagles.”

Currently the Head Coach at Dartmouth Rugby and a former player himself, Willocks has been in the coaching world for several years. In addition to holding positions within strength & conditioning, the new Head Coach also served as an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Collegiate All-Americans in 2016, making his appointment to this new role a fitting transition.

With Assistant Coaches Osborne currently leading a varsity program and Bradford having recently won a D1A National Championship, Willocks is confident he has the right men in place to support the program.

“Both Coach Bradford and Coach Osborne have incredible rugby knowledge and have spent years developing student-athletes at their respective institutions,” said Willocks. “Not only top coaches but top men who will help create a positive environment to drive the development of the best collegiate players in the country.”

Along with Willocks, Bradford, and Osborne, the Men’s Collegiate All-American staff will include Kevin McCorry as Team Manager, Scott Lawrence as Technical Advisor and medical staff to be announced later.

The MCAAs Selection Camp will be held from August 9-17 at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO with a selection of activities covered across USA Rugby’s digital and social media platforms.

For All-American athletes to continue their journey to becoming Eagles, support from the greater community is critical so young players may represent their country without the burden of financial stress. To support future Men’s National Team players, click here.
