Boston Mystics & Ontario Arrows

The Boston Mystics lost to the Ontario Arrows 29-19 on April 21 at Pine Banks Park in Malden, MA. The Ontario Arrows jumped out to a 19-0 lead at the half, but the Boston Mystic second-half comeback with three tries did not match the five tries the Arrows had on the day.

Preceding the match against the Ontario Arrows, the D2 Barbarians beat Boston Irish Wolfhounds 48-26 in a NERFU playoff match.

The Ontario Arrows took a 5-0 lead in the 10th minute as No. 8 Kolby Francis grounded the ball after a 5-meter scrum. Ten minutes later, Rob Brouwer, a prop added a try and Will Kelly converted increasing the lead to 12-0. Kolby Francis added a second try in the 35th minute from a pushover by the forwards, with Kelly again converting for a 19-0 lead at the break.

Hooker Andrew Quattrin scored a try in the first minute of the half to push the lead to 24-0.

In the 58th minute, Boston exerted sustained pressure on the Arrows and Vini Daley scored the Mystics first try to cut the lead to 24-5. Six minutes later, the Arrows answered back with an Alex Gliksten try (29-5).

The Mystics added tries by Devin Ibanez in the 68th minute and by Dana Corcoran late in the match with Santiago Bertranou converting both to narrow the final score to 29-19.

On May 5, the Boston Mystics will travel to play the Ontario Arrows in a rematch at York University.
