Women’s Falcons Squad: 2018 Okinawa Sevens

The USA Rugby Women’s Falcons return to Okinawa for the 2018 Okinawa Sevens tournament, Feb. 23-24. Last year’s team went undefeated and look to defend their title this year.

The developmental squad is lead by San Diego Surfer Sevens Head Coach Jarrod Faul and will have the two Women’s Eagles Sevens players in Kate Zackary and Kelsi Stockert. The team will face Japan A, Fiji, and Russia in the competition.

Head Coach Jarrod Faul, the Assistant Women’s Eagles Sevens Coach is looking forward to another tour with the Falcons, as he coached the Falcons at the Brisbane Sevens.  International competitions like these,  help to develop a pool of elite athletes.

Faul said, “This is another exciting opportunity to continue to grow individually and to further develop as a team and build confidence on the international stage.”

Current Women’s Sevens players Nicole Heavirland, Ryan Carlyle and Cheta Emba were all part of the 2017 competition and tours like this will help with the team’s future success.

The Falcons will depart for Okinawa on Tuesday, Feb. 20,  and the competition will begin Feb. 23 at Zanpa Misaki Ball Park in Japan. After a few days of training, the Falcons will face Japan A, Fiji and Russia in Pool B on Day One.
