Seattle Seawolves & Mike Garrity
The Seattle Seawolves sign Seattle Saracen and Colorado State University graduate, Mike Garrity. He is 29 years old, 6’2″ tall, and 225 pounds.
Garrity was born in Centennial, Colorado, and played rugby at Regis Jesuit High School from 2003 to 2007. He then went to Colorado State University and played rugby from 2007 to 2011.
After graduating, he played with the Denver Barbarians RFC from 2011 to 2014 and then moved to Seattle to play for the Seattle Saracens in 2015.
He earned his first cap with the Eagles in 2016 against Canada on Feb. 13, when he entered as a replacement in the Americas Rugby Championship match. His second and latest cap was Feb. 27, 2016, against Brazil in Sao Paulo as a starter. In 2016, Garrity also played professional rugby for the Denver Stampede.
Garrity has also played rugby sevens. In August 2014 he played for the Denver Barbarians in the USA Club 7s Nationals.
Garrity was in the starting lineup for the Seattle Saracens on January 6, 2018, against the Houston SaberCats.
Head Coach Tony Healy said, “Mike is a strong guy and loves to work hard. His work ethic, speed, and power will all be put to the test as part of our back line.”
Garrity said, “The opportunity to play for the Seawolves and represent Seattle through this sport is a dream come true for me, I have always desired to play rugby for the city I love. To play rugby at the standard that the Seawolves are aspiring towards gets me very excited. The season ahead will be an awesome step towards cementing rugby as a pillar of sport and community, not only among the Pacific Northwest but across the country as well. Go Seawolves!”
The Seattle Seawolves inaugural season kicks off on April 22 against the San Diego Legion at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila. Tickets are available now by visiting www.SeattleSeawolves.com.
