ONTARIO ARROWS ANNOUNCE STAFF FOR 2018 SEASON

Ontario Arrows Release

The Ontario Arrows have announced their staff for the 2018 season, which will see Canada’s first privately-funded high-performance rugby team play a minimum of six games against current and future Major League Rugby teams in the March-May window.

The Arrows staff features several individuals with national, international and professional rugby experience, highlighted by the appointment of the winningest head coach in Canadian Rugby Championship history in Chris Silverthorn, as well as 2016 and 2017 Ontario University Athletics men’s rugby championship team head coaches Cory Hector and David Butcher.

The Arrows coaching staff is rounded out by the appointment of Aaron Carpenter, the most-capped player in Canadian rugby history, who returns to Ontario following a decade-long professional career overseas.

“We are very fortunate to have the support of so many successful rugby minds to help push our program forward,” said Arrows GM Mark Winokur. “The idea this season is to drive a united purpose and work with our players to develop a program that Ontario and Canada can be proud of. We have the right individuals in place, and we’re very excited to kick off our inaugural season in a couple of months.”

The Arrows will open their season in Houston against the MLR Sabercats on Mar. 3, 2018.

Additional player, venue and media announcements will be made in the coming weeks.
