Utah Warriors & Kenny Scott

The Utah Warriors have signed Kansas City Blues and Rugby Utah Selects 7s player Kenny Scott. Kendrick is a versatile player that can play either flanker or wing. He is 28 years old, 6’4″, 220 pounds, and has burner speed.

Scott began playing rugby in 2007 and played in College at Kansas State University/ Fort Riley RFC in 2011. When there, he also played rugby sevens for the Kansas City Blues and has been the Captain of the team for the last six years. In 2016 he helped to lead the team to the National 2nd place finish and in 2014 the team finished in third. He also is an accomplished 15s player for the Blues.

Kenny has played for representative sides as a sevens player. He was selected for the Collegiate Heart of America All-Stars team.  He has played for Atlantis 7s in Cuba, Tobago and twice in Las Vegas.  He is a two-time member of the West 7s All-Stars, played for the Denver Elite 7s in 2015 and was selected for the USA Hawks 7s team. The Denver team played at the Rugbytown 7s, the Elite City 7s in 2014 and the Halloween 7s in 2015. As a result of their performance in the latter tournament, the team was selected to play in the Coral Coast 7s in Fiji in January 2016.

Kenny Scott said “I’m looking forward to joining the Warriors and seeing what this opportunity brings. This past summer I spent some time with the Utah Select 7s and I’m really impressed with the young talent they have. As they’ve shown with back to back National 7s titles, Utah teams really dig deep and have the ability to show up when it counts. Working with that caliber of players every day will help me to lift my game. I can’t wait to get to work and have some fun with the Warriors”.

Warriors Head Coach Alf Daniels added that “Kenny is a player that we’re excited to join our squad. Kenny’s had a lot of playing time both in the backline and as a loose forward. That experience in back three makes him a more dynamic loose forward, and standing at 6’4 he becomes a legitimate option for us in the line out. Kenny’s very dynamic has a lot of speed and has a knack for popping up in the right place at the right time. We look forward to seeing him in a Warriors jersey”.
