Austin Elite Rugby Management announced the signing of David LeMasters as a hooker for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. David is 19 years old, 5’9″ tall and weighs 189 pounds. He is a versatile player who can also play flanker.

David and his twin brother Sean are from San Diego, California and were introduced to rugby, playing for the Marauders at Mira Mesa High School. He also played football at the school and also played rugby with the San Diego Young Aztecs in 2013.

David then moved to Round Rock, Texas, where he attended Stony Point High School and graduated in 2016. He continued to play football his Sophomore and Senior years and played rugby for Rock Rugby from 2013 through his graduation.

In high school, David was also selected for the Rugby Texas High-Performance team in 2014. The team competed in the Rocky Mountain Challenge in Colorado where they played Colorado, Utah, and Wisconsin.

He and his brother Sean then began to play club rugby with the Austin Huns. Unfortunately, Sean, a center, and wing for the team sustained an injury in practice and his season prematurely ended. David’s season continued and culminated in the Huns winning the USA Rugby Club Division 1 National Championship in 2017.

After graduation from high school, David enrolled at Temple Junior College in 2017 and is a full-time student. He plans on earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.

When he isn’t involved in rugby, he enjoys swimming and watching Netflix.

David is looking forward to playing professional rugby with Austin Elite Rugby and commented that “I never thought I’d play professional rugby, especially at such a young age.”
