Quinn Noel Memorial Rugby Match
Texas Tech Men’s Rugby Release: November 13, 2017
Texas Tech Men’s Rugby and The Woodlands Rugby Club will compete in the first Quinn Noel Memorial Rugby Match on Nov. 18 in the Woodlands.
This match will be an annual event between the two clubs to honor and remember Quinn Noel, the Red Raiders’ captain and former Woodlands High School player that passed away in Jan. 2017.
“This upcoming match against the Woodland’s Men’s Club holds high value in carrying Quinn Noel’s legacy that he left at Texas Tech,” Texas Tech President Bobby Flinn said. “Quinn added a high level of passion for the game and an unparalleled work rate that still inspires the team constantly through the season.
A trust has also been formed by the two clubs to start a scholarship in Quinn’s memory that will eventually bring one or more Woodland High School players to Texas Tech to be involved with rugby.
“Quinn loved this game, you could see that by the way he played,” Quinn’s former high school coach Phil Beck, said. “No player was too big for him to knock down or to run over. Quinn is a huge loss to many of us and I cannot think of a more fitting way to remember him.”
