Austin Elite Rugby Adds Antonio Winn

Austin Elite Rugby – Antonio Winn

Austin Elite Rugby Management announced the signing of Antonio Winn as a utility back for the 2018 Major League Rugby season. He is 26 years old, 6’1” and 195 lbs.

Antonio began playing rugby at age 14 in South Bend, Indiana, while attending Marian High School. He played wing at Indiana University from 2011-2015 where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Informatics.

Upon graduation, he moved to Austin, Texas where he is employed as an IT Operations Engineer for General Motors.

Winn continued to play rugby in Austin with the Austin Blacks and in 2016 earned Back of the Year. He helped to lead the Austin Blacks in the 2016 USA Club Nationals Final where they lost to Mystic River.

Alex Solomon chronicled the experiences of former D1A Rugby athletes, like Winn, playing in the Club Nationals. Winn complimented Mystic River saying “My hat goes off to Mystic River – they are a great team. It is especially devastating when thinking about veteran players on the team who have waited so long for a Championship. But it was an incredible experience being able to play at Infinity Park with thousands of people watching from around the world.”

Antonio Winn continued the success that he had in 2016 and in 2017 continued to be a leader and a try scorer for the Austin Blacks at wing.
