Austin Elite Rugby – Knute O’Donnell

Austin Elite Rugby signed Knute O’Donnell as scrum-half position for the 2018 Major League Rugby season.

Knute grew up in Osceola, Indiana, where he began playing rugby at Penn High School. While there, he won the Heart Award, a two-time Coach’s Choice Award and was also the leading points scorer his Senior year. He also played for undefeated Rugby Indiana Boys Select Side (Under 19s) at the 2011 Potomac Regional All-Star Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA.

After graduating high school, we played rugby Davenport University from 2011 to 2015 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management. Davenport won the D1-AA USA Rugby Collegiate Rugby Championship in 2012 and since then have played D1A Rugby. In 2012 he was invited to the USA Rugby U20 Camp. In his Senior year in 2015, the team advanced to the USA Rugby College 7s National Championship rounds before losing to Lindenwood University in the Final.

O’Donnell joined the Austin Blacks after graduation in 2015 and helped the team advance to the USA Rugby Club 15s Nationals in both 2016 and 2017. He also played for the Calgary Rams for summer 2017 season.

Knute is looking forward to taking on this new rugby challenge of playing professional rugby with the Austin Elite Rugby team.
