Art Reyes is from San Antonio, Texas and grew up playing football and running track. He started to play rugby at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 2010. He originally intended to play football there, but ended up competing in rugby as a wing and fullback. In 2012 he played in Canada for the Bow Valley Grizzlies and then moved to Seattle in 2013 and began playing with Seattle -OPSB, now Seattle Saracens, until 2015. While with the team, he played in the Okanagan D1 British Columbia League. He also played for the Serevi Selects.According to Justin Fitzpatrick, Head coach of the Strikers and who was his coach in Seattle, Art then played in Texas for two years when he left Seattle.

Art did indeed, as he confirmed that he played for the Alamo City Rugby Club, which led to him representing the Army on the All Army Rugby team, prior to signing with the Strikers.

Art is currently stationed at Fort Hood in Texas.

Fitzpatrick commented that Art Reyes “is a first class athlete with a great attitude and work ethic. He is currently in active service at one of the local bases and we are very excited to have him join us!

Art Reyes Comments About Playing Professional Rugby

Art Reyes said that “I am excited to have the opportunity to play professional rugby. The sport has continued to progress by leaps and bounds since I started playing in 2010. I think with the right exposure that one day it might reach the level of what the NFL is today.”
