Premiership Rugby Clinics, Scholarships & Collegiate All-Americas vs. Oxford, Prior to Newcastle Falcons vs. Saracens

The Newcastle Falcons will play their Aviva Premiership Rugby match against Saracens on 16th September at the Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The kickoff is at 5pm ET.

This is the second year that Premiership Rugby are taking a regular season game to the USA. The first was last March when the London Irish played the Saracens. The match is part of a long-term agreement with AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company, and involves Premiership Rugby playing a match in the USA every year for four years. The multi-year agreement also has the backing of NBC who will broadcast the games live, as well as the game being shown live on BT Sport in the UK with highlights available through our newest broadcast Partner, Channel 5.

Prior to the Newcastle Falcons vs. Saracens match, the USA Collegiate All-Americans will play Oxford University at 2:30pm ET.

Oxford Men’s preseason camp began on Friday September 1 and will continue until the 7th. Approximately seventy players are expected to attend the camp at Iffley Road to stake their claim for a position in of the men’s three sides for the up-coming Varsity campaign. After the camp, thirty-one players and four management will travel to the United States for a two week tour of the east coast of the United States.

Oxford Men’s Rugby Club will play two additional matches on their tour besides the USA Collegiate All-Americans. Both of these matches will be against the American Rugby Premiership teams, Mystic River on Sunday, September 10 and against Old Blue on Friday, September 22.

Rugby Scholarships

In Partnership with AEG, NBC Sports, USA Rugby, Friends of the British Council and Premiership Rugby, 30 participants will win a once in a lifetime Rugby Scholarship to England in 2018!

This is open to female and male rugby players (aged 17-18) & level 200 USAR certified rugby coaches who attend one of the clinics below. Additionally rugby players aged 15-24 who attend one of the clinics below can win a match ticket and VIP Coaching Clinic for September 16th.

Video Submissions

Video submissions for players need to meet the following selection criteria:

Participant states full name, rugby team that they are affiliated with, their background in the sport of rugby (like how they started playing, their playing history), why they love playing rugby and why they should be selected for the Premiership Rugby Scholarship visit to the UK.

Entrants can include any highlights of them playing. Videos can be filmed on phone, camera or other devices and must not exceed two minutes two minutes.​

Participants must be living in the United States.

​Entries do not have to be directly uploaded to our portal…. uploads on Premiership Rugby’s Facebook Rugby’s page, Twitter and Instagram will be accepted when using both hashtags #dreamscometrue #premrugby

Entrants that submit videos agree that Premiership Rugby and it’s partners are able to use content for marketing and promotional purposes. Video submission deadline is 3pm (EST) on 10 September 2017.

Open to male and female rugby players who are aged 17 or 18 on September 1st, 2017

Video submissions for coaches – which is for over-18s only – need to meet the following selection criteria: Participant states full name, rugby team that they are affiliated with, their background in the sport of rugby, how they teach or demonstrate the values of rugby in their coaching and why they should be selected for the Premiership Rugby Scholarship visit to the UK.

Videos can be filmed on phone, camera or other devices and must not exceed 90 seconds. Participants must be living in the United States. Entries do not have to be directly uploaded to our portal and uploads on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will be accepted when using both hashtags #dreamscometrue #premrugby. Entrants that submit videos agree that Premiership Rugby and it’s partners are able to use content for marketing and promotional purposes. Video submission deadline is 3pm (EST) on 10 September 2017.
