Rugby Americas North Release: June 13, 2017

The Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s U19s and Women’s 10s tournaments will be held at Vizcaya Park in the City of Miramar, Florida from July 15 to 22, 2017.

In the Men’s U19 Tournament there are eight teams, USA Rugby South A & B, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, and Mexico. In the Women’s 10s Tournament on July 20-21, teams from the USA Rugby South, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico and Jamaica will compete in a round robin format.

RAN General Manager, Niall Brooks indicated that “We are pleased once again to be hosting the RAN U19s and Women’s 10s in Miami. This will be the third year that USA South, on behalf of USA Rugby have hosted the event and the good weather, great playing venue and affordability of Miami makes hosting in Florida a very attractive proposition for RAN. This year all games should be competitive with the added attraction of a representative side from South America participating in the U19 competition.”

The RAN Superweek will begin with a Rookie Rugby Mini-Camp, hosted by Okapi Wanderers Rugby Club. The camp for ages 5-12 is free and will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 15th with families invited to stay for the 4:00 p.m. match between USA Rugby South and Jamaica. Light snacks will be provided. Sunday will also feature a youth match between the Okapi Wanderers and England’s Harton College. Kick off time for that match is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

The RAN will also host an anti-doping seminar and Spanish language coaching session. Details and sign-ups for all activities can be found at rugbyamericasnorth.com/superweek. There will be a live stream of this event. Check back on the Rugby Americas North Facebook page.
