The Alaska Midnight 7’s Rugby Tournament will be held on June 16-17, 2017. Matches are being held at the Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds in the backyard of Justin Green and also at Davis Field. Follow the tournament on Facebook and the stream by Wyatt Bar on Youtube.

For this year’s tournament there will be four divisions: Mens Open Division (Elite), Mens Club Division (Social), Womens Club Division and a Masters 35+ Division. Upon the conclusion of the tournament cash, prizes and trophies will be awarded. The Men”s Open winner will also receive $3,000.

After the conclusion of the tournament on Saturday, there will be a social event coordinated by the Alaska Rugby Union and held at the Alaska Mountain Rugby Grounds http://www.alaskarugby.org/. There will also be a #TryDive contest/fundraiser benefiting Lorrie Clifford.

Rules
All matches shall be played according to the World Rugby Sevens Regulations and Laws of the Game with Seven-a-side variations. All teams will be entitled to have the following members in attendance:

  • Up to 12 players; up to 3 managers; teams will be entitled to also bring a doctor or physiotherapist at their discretion.
  • Mens Open Division play: 2 brackets of 4 teams each. Pool play from random draw, each team plays three pool matches under points system 3 for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss, 0 for a no-show with standard tie breakers. Top 4 and bottom 4 separated into knockout play brackets. Top 4 go to Cup Semi’s and bottom 4 go to Plate Semi’s. 1st is Cup, 3rd is Plate, 5th is Bowl, and 7th is Shield.
  • USA clubs required to be CIPP’d, International clubs will have passport checks.
  • To constantly improve the tournament, rules may be changed or amended without notice.
