Montana is a rugby destination May 19-21, as the Missoula Maggots RFC host the 41st Annual Maggotfest at Fort Missoula Regional Park. Forty eight men’s, women’s, college and old boys teams are expected to participate. Teams come from the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Canada, as well as from a number of states throughout the U.S.
The Maggotfest is a festival-style social rugby tournament in which teams of similar abilities are paired that would not normally get to play each other. Teams will play two matches on Saturday and one on Sunday.
On Thursday night the Maggots will play an invited host side, while the Flies (Maggots over 35), the university men, and women also will play that evening. Following the matches, is a pig roast with beer.
“The Maggots have a tradition of taking the host sides down the Lochsa River on a white water rafting trip on the Friday of Maggotfest with Lewis and Clark Trail Adventures.”
