Southern California RFU Club Finals & Pacific South Championship

The Southern California Rugby Football Union Men’s D1/D2 and Women’s D2 Playoff Finals will take place on April 29 and the Pacific South Championships between the Southern California Champions and the Arizona/Rio Grande Rugby Union Champions will be on May 6. Both event will be held in San Diego, California at OMBAC Rugby’s Little Q pitch with free admission.

12:15pm – Old Pueblo vs Pasadena – Women’s D2
2pm – Orange County vs Riverside – Men’s D3
3:45pm – Santa Monica vs Tempe – Women’s D1
5:30pm – Las Vegas vs Ventura – Men’s D2
Pacific South Championship – May 6
- Men’s D2 – Las Vegas or Ventura v Red Mountain
- Men’s D3 – Orange County or Riverside v Santa Fe Santos
The Southern California Rugby Football Union D2 semi-final playoffs on April 22 had the Las Vegas Irish defeating Back Bay 46-33., while the Ventura County Outlaws won 24-18 against the Oceanside Chiefs. This set up the finals on April 29 with the Las Vegas Irish meeting the Ventura County Outlaws. The winner will then face Red Mountain on May 6.
The D2 Quarterfinals were on April 8. The Ventura County Outlaws beat Belmont Shore D2 35-19, The Las Vegas Irish won 28-0 over Santa Monica Dolphins D2, the Oceanside Chiefs defeated San Fernando Valley 26-12 and the Back Bay Sharks won 36-7 over OMBAC D2.
In the SoCal D3 Semi-finals the Orange County Ravens beat Dead Rabbits Rugby 43-10 and Riverside Rugby won 24-20 over the Beaumont Bluehawks. The Orange County Ravens will meet Riverside on April 29 and the winner will meet the Santa Fe Santos on May 6.
The Arizona Rugby Union has three D2 teams, Red Mountain, Northern Arizona and Scottsdale. These teams played a combined D2 and D3 schedule. Red Mountain finished with a 7-0 record in finishing first, while Northern Arizona had a 6-1 record and was in second place.
The D3 Arizona/Rio Grande Rugby Union Playoffs were held last weekend with the Albuquerque Aardvarks defeating the Tucson Magpies 32-24. In the other semi-final, the Santa Fe Santos defeated Phoenix 43-15. This set up an all Rio Grande Final and Santa Fe beat Albuquerque 30-18 to advance to thePacific South Championship on May 6.
