LAFAYETTE, Colo. – USA Rugby’s Training and Education department is pleased to announce the addition of an online learning management system, education.usarugby.org. The online system will allow members to take courses across multiple disciplines, at their own pace. Administrators, coaches, players, referees and medical professionals will be able to register for the courses with their USA Rugby Membership.

The learning management system will allow members to continue to expand their professional development around the over one dozen different in-person clinics currently offered by the department. Courses will continually be developed to offer updated and diverse options for the membership.

“We are very excited to enter this phase of offering quality online material to our membership,” USA Rugby Training and Education Director Kenneth Forehand said. “The online learning management system will allow us to be flexible and affordable while granting us the ability to be responsive to the needs of our community.”

At launch, two courses are immediately available, the online Touch Judge Certification Course as well as an Administration 1001 course. Other courses will follow soon with courses ranging in topics from player safety to how to fundraise for you team. Technical courses are also being developed in conjunction with the National Team staff and players.

Reduced Pricing

The Touch Judge course, which has been reduced in cost to an introductory rate of $10 from what was $30, will certify the participant as a touch judge and introduce members to the world of officiating. Certification of touch judges is an ongoing goal as aim for continued development and improvement of officiating at all levels of the game. An upcoming online Assistant Referee course will be offered at no cost for those registering for the touch judge during this introductory timeframe.

Administration 1001 is aimed to educate individuals in the community to some of USA Rugby’s basic administration processes. This course demonstrate and simplify some administrative tasks for individuals and team. Administration 1001 will offered free to USA Rugby members.
