USA Rugby has agreed to a memorandum of understanding with USA Touch Rugby (USA Touch) as a game development partner. USA Touch is the official provider of touch rugby through the Federation of International Touch in the United States.
Touch Rugby is emphasizes running, agility, passing, catching and communication in game, but does not involve tackling, lineouts, scrumming or kicking. The touch version of the sport has seen a large growth over recent years, now featuring over 25 men’s, women’s and co-ed clubs.
USA Touch Rugby will feature at USA Rugby events beginning in 2017, working to align schedules and partner around domestic events.
The USA Touch National Championships will take place starting Oct. 12, 2017 in Oceanside, Calif. at the SoCal Sports Complex. The National Championship weekend will feature 50 teams across Men’s, Women’s, Co-Ed and, potentially, high school competitions.
