Rugby Canada is holding a training camp at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island ahead of the Can-Am Series against the USA at Chula Vista, California. Almost 40 athletes were invited to camp.
In preparation for the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Ireland in August, Canada is playing the USA in a two match Can-Am Series on March 28 and April 1. Canada will travel to New Zealand for a three-game tour to face New Zealand, England and Australia.
Head coach Francois Ratier, and his coaches, Gary Dukelow, Colette McAuley, Shaun Allen & analyst James Kent, are running twice-a-day training sessions this week ahead of selecting a traveling roster that will depart for San Diego on Saturday morning.
Canada is currently ranked third in the World Rugby rankings and will face Hong Kong, Wales and New Zealand in the pool stages of the tournament August 9th, 13th and 17th.
Canada and the USA met in the 2016 Women’s Rugby Super Series where they won 33-5 against the USA and finished 3-0 tournament to claim the title.
The first test match on March 28th will be streamed live on USA Rugby’s Facebook page, while the second will be available on The Rugby Channel.
