Lindenwood Lions completed their Ireland tour vs Highfield RFC on Sunday, March 19. The Lions saw all 28 touring members in during the 80 minute match and finished very strong to end the match with a 19-5 fourth quarter, but it was not enough to get past the physical Highfield, as they won 32-29.

Recap

Highfield jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the 20th minute and at the break the score was 17-10 to Highfield. Highfield increased their lead to 27-10 after 60 minutes before Lindenwood stormed back with 19 points, to an unconverted try by Highfield, in the last 20 minutes of the match. Although Highfield won 32-29, Lindenwood competed well and can take what they learned as they make a national run..

Lindenwood and Ireland

Lindenwood had more opportunities to experience more of Ireland after they left Dublin. That was described in an earlier article.

Galway was the next destination and included Croke Park and a training session with Connacht coaches. Trips to the Cliffs of Moher and Bunratty Castle were also part of the Irish Rugby Tours agenda.

As a surprise, the team went to see Ireland Women play England and also saw the Men’s U20s play.

A rugby tour creates lifelong experiences and an opportunity to bond with teammates. This should help the team as it strives toward national success in rugby.
