Austin Huns Add 3 PRO Rugby Players

Austin, TX (January 20, 2017). – The Austin Huns are thrilled to announce the signing of three high-caliber players to the elite squad, bringing talent, experience, and skill to Austin Huns pack and backline.
Hanco Germishuys
Hanco Germishuys is one of the most sought out young players in USA Rugby. Already having 5 years of experience of in USA Rugby national program, he adds a wealth of knowledge and skills to the packs of the Austin Huns. Hanco has competed in a dozen tours for the USA Under 17, 18, and 20s team against teams such as England, Wales, France, and Fiji. Hanco also competed in the Youth Olympic Games.
Hanco has moved through the rugby ranks rapidly, receiving his first cap for the USA at the age of 19! He was ranked the number 1 player to wear 7 and 8 in the USA Under-20 division. He has captained his squads in 3 different tours. Most recently he was the starter at 7 for Denver Stampede, before joining the Austin Huns.
“Hanco needs no introduction to the USA rugby community and has made deeps steps in the junior ranks representing the USA at u18 and captaining the u20 side at the junior world cup. Hanco is a typical fetcher but can also cover eight-man and hooker. Hanco is already in the sights of the USA Eagles, and we are privileged to have him as a Hun” said Austin Huns Head Coach, Eugene Eloff.
Martin Knoetze
Martin Knoetzs is a powerful player who brings a mix of speed, power, and skill to the Austin Huns backline. “He is a young player with lots of potential as a versatile center who can also play wing and fullback. Although a quiet introvert personality, he brings experience and firepower to the Huns team. He is a player that can represent the USA in the future” said Eugene.
Martin was the Pacific Rugby Premiership’s top try scored in 2016, amassing 14 tries on the season. He is an incredible player who is outstanding at reading gaps and exploiting the breaks in defenses. Though he is an excellent finisher, his presence and skills also helps put other players into space and under the post. Most recently Martin played wing for Denver Stampede in the PRO league.
Michael Reid
Michael Reid is an experienced scrumhalf, who has played some premiere rugby over the course of his career. Michael is a 4 year High School All-American, who has played rugby around the world. He has represented the Taranaki U18 and U19s, as well as, USA Under-20 team.
“Michael is a great character, which is typical of a scrumhalf. His great pass, communication skills, and rugby schooling in New Zealand makes him a skilled player. He is a nuggety scrumhalf with a great attitude, who has played at high levels, such as representing the USA at the junior world cup. Michael is a tremendous asset to the Austin Huns and has already shown that he can play the game at a higher level” said Eugene Eloff. Most recently Michael played scrumhalf for San Francisco in the PRO League.
The Austin Huns are extremely excited to have signed 3 outstanding players to join the team as it moves closer to the quest of becoming one of the top teams in the nation.
