Lindenwood University Men’s Rugby Finishes Third at Red Bull Uni 7s

Red Bull Uni 7s saw seven universities from across the globe competing in a student rugby sevens competition at the University of Bath Recreation Grounds on September 17, 2016. Each university won their national competitions along with host University of Bath, two time defending champions.

This year’s contest has been expanded to include teams from the United States and Brazil, Lindenwood University and Universidad de Paulista, respectively. Also competing are the University of Exeter, Cardiff Met, Université de Pau et des Pays de l’amour from France and CUS Milano Rugby from Italy.

Lindenwood had two losses in the Red Bull Uni 7s, a 27-19 loss to Bath and a 43-14 loss to Wales to finish third in the competition with a 4-2 record. They opened the competition with a 24-14 win over France, won 21-5 against England, beat Italy 19-14 and in their final match beat Brazil 40-7.

The University of Bath won their third consecutive Red Bull Uni 7s title as they beat Cardiff Met from Wales 21-17 in the Final in front of a 13,894 crowd during half-time of the Aviva Premiership match between Bath Rugby and Worcester Warriors.

It was an exciting match that saw the University of Bath taking a 14-0 lead before Cardiff Met scored to narrow the lead 14-5 at the half. Cardiff Met then added two second half tries to take a 17-14 lead before Bath dashed their hopes with a try on the final play of the match for a 21-17 win.
