Hear firsthand about Mystic River Rugby Club’s climb to the top, winning the Division 1 national champions, the club’s first ever national title in its 42 year history. Penn Mutual’s Bill Stevens will talk about Penn Mutual’s commitment to rugby.

The night will see a host of speakers from both rugby and business world, who will share their insights on how we are working to grow rugby as a sport within the community. Our speaker for the night are –

  1. John Laurito 

John joined Penn Mutual in 2013 as President and CEO of its career agency in Boston. With nearly 20 years of experience in the financial industry, John has a proven track record of success in organizational management and advisor development.

Prior to joining Penn Mutual, John was a financial advisor with Ameriprise, before transitioning to management roles as an associate vice president, field vice president and regional vice president. He was also recognized by Ameriprise with an Outstanding Leader Award in 2006 and became a Diamond Ring Club inductee in 2008.

  1. William J. Stevens 

William J. Stevens, “Bill” as he’s commonly known, began his career as an agent in 1985 with the Equitable Life Assurance Society. A graduate of Long Island University, Bill earned his CLU, ChFC and MSFS designations from The American College.

Being an active member of NAIFA, GAMA, AALU, and the Society of Financial Service Professionals, he has served on numerous industry committees with these organizations, as well as with LIMRA and The American College.

Following a series of supervisory positions throughout his 30 years in the industry, Bill has maintained his stature as the Vice President of Career Agency System at Penn Mutual.

  1. Nathan J. Fox

Nathan J. Fox is an avid rugby player and is working to grow the sport grow in New England. He was a part of the team that won the National Collegiate Championship that gave him the opportunity join the All New England team. In 2010 he joined the Mystic River Rugby Club team (a nationally-ranked top ten team) where he managed to accrue four national sweet 16s, two elite 8s, and two Final Fours.

He is now CEO and Cofounder of Precision Financial Group that assist clients with retirement planning, estate planning, college savings, business succession and Medicaid planning. Apart from which he also works as an Advisor with Concord Wealth Management where mentors new advisors at the firm.

Nathan will share his wealth of knowledge on rugby and the local Boston scene, doubtless more than happy to answer members’ questions on the night.

  1. Joshua Smith 

Josh Smith is the Head Coach for the Mystic River Rugby 15’s and 7’s and Coach with Northeast Academy. He recently coached Mystic to the Division 1 National Championship in 15’s and 3rd place in 7’s. He formerly coached the Middlesex Barbarians to six consecutive trips to Nationals spanning D-3 to D-1 and also two additional trips in 7’s. With Bentley College Rugby he won back-to-back 2006 and 2007 D-3 College National Championships.

He has coached Northeast ODA in Vegas 7’s, Series 7’s and World Club 7’s in Limerick, Ireland. Played rugby at UMass-Lowell, Mystic River and Middlesex Barbarians. He currently serves as a Sergeant with the Mass Department of Correction 16 yrs. Josh lives in Woburn with his wife, Kelley and children, Gavin and Lily.

The evening will offer the perfect, relaxed, sporting environment to meet fellow business people who share your passion for Rugby.
